ARC August – the Finale

Well folks, I did a decent job for the ARC August challenge. I made a fairly lofty goal [click here for my book list to attempt and book challenge details] considering I’ve started a dozen novels this year and end up shelving them to finish at a later date. I’ve gone through numerous reading slumps all year long, with the exception of keeping up with comic book reads, so it’s been a bit rough.

But finishing three books and close to a quarter of the way done with my fourth isn’t too shabby. Again I haven’t been finishing much of anything lately but I’m hoping to keep the momentum going for the month of September. My original list included:

This Savage Life – Victoria Schwab
The Serpent King – Jeff Zentner
P.S. I Like You – Kasie West
You Know Me Well – Nina LaCour & David Levithan
The Crown’s Game – Evelyn Skye
And I Darken* – Kiersten White
*indicating my attempt 😁

I had fun keeping up with the challenge, although the past two weeks my life has been turned upside down with our basement flooding so these weeks have been too busy to concentrate fully with reading time, but half a list is good enough for me! Sadly I haven’t kept up with more participants progression (sorry!) but hopefully everyone were burning holes in their ARC shelves reading everything!

Thank you for hosting Read.Sleep.Repeat! Don’t worry, I’ll be back next year for sure! There are always plenty of titles I’m behind on to use as my list haha👍

ARC August – update week 4

So in the midst of the worst week ever, I was actually able to finish a book! Woohoo! It’s pretty crazy because I’ve basically spent all summer not reading much so it’s nice to know this is starting to pay off–signing up for the reading challenge and whatnot👍

I liked this one, You Know Me Well by Nina LaCour and David Levithan–two gay high school classmates find themselves at a gay bar for Pride Week in San Francisco and develop a friendship overnight. I could’ve used more closure for Mark’s storyline rather than just “hey I’ll figure things out” but I enjoyed Kate and Mark’s guide to self-discovery in becoming who they’re meant to be and shedding what they wish could be. Sometimes friendships just click and I liked what these two characters established within the short time the audience gets to spend with them.

I’ve already started on my next read, And I Darken by Kiersten White…it’s my book club pick for August and I’m seriously cutting it close. I’m also trying to decide what to read for September since I’ve had a decent month reading for August! I’m not sure if the challenge somehow helped or not, but I’ll be writing down some titles that I’ve been looking forward to reading as well as finishing a few I’ve started ☺️ [yes Mindy and Game of Thrones, I’m looking at you both–we should so be done by now haha!]

ARC August – update week 3

Happy week 3 of ARC August!! YAY! I read  books! Super pumped I was able to get some reading time in! P.S. I Like you was fabulous!! So cute and adorable and I’ve missed falling in love with Kasie West’s stories. A few in the past haven’t blown me away but P.S. I Like You was one book I couldn’t put down. Literally. Read this one in a day. 😳

With the momentum I have, I’m trying to keep it alive for the next few weeks! It just might be possible and I’d love to add to my Goodreads challenge for sure👌Next up I’m starting on You Know Me Well by Nina LaCour & David Levithan. This one sounds promising from the first twenty pages I’ve read. I love David’s work and I’m a newbie to Nina’s writing, so this should be good! Hopefully I can have another successful reading week!

How are the rest of you guys doing? Reading up a storm?!

ARC August – update week 2

Success!

I have finished one book for this month’s ARC challenge! I’ll admit, there has been a struggle to get into a reading mindset these days. Real life has been busy, trying to nail down phone & in-person interviews for jobs I desperately need so trying to find time where I concentrate and read a story just seems like the last thing on my mind. But somehow I did it!

Really liked this title! What’s surprising is that This Savage Song is the first Victoria Schwab novel I’ve read. I own The Archived in paperback and am dying to read her Shades of Magic series! I was excited to learn there’s a sequel for TSS and can’t wait to see what happens next with August and Kate 😊

Since I’ve got one book under my belt for the #ARCAugust challenge, I’m going to keep myself on a roll and try for finishing a 1.5 books this week. Making a big goal but it’s possible.

Hope everyone is getting their arcs read!! Happy reading 😚

ARC August – update week 1

Oh so we’re really into the swing of things aren’t we? Well I’m off to a bit of a rough start. It’s only been 39 pages of one of my book picks BUT . . . I did take this amazing photo of arcs that I hope to read. So, that’s some, um …. progress?

I kid but seriously I’ve gotta buckle down and promise to read at least one book this week. I’ve also picked And I Darken as my book club pick so I know that book I’ll most definitely be able to finish.

Onward and upward for week 2!

ARC August . . . . you game?

Oh hello friends *cricket noises* well whoever sees this, maybe there’s one individual left? Hi 👋 It’s your old pal Linz, and I’ve been MIA for I don’t know how long but

Besides my anti-social blogging behavior, I’ve decided August isn’t too late to start making some goals, right? Of course not! So in order to get my blogging/reading tail in gear I’m signing up for ARC August! I literally just found out about it’s existence a few days ago and am like “HOMG I have a million books from ALAMW (well the past three ALAMW’s shhh! don’t tell) that I’ve needed to read forever! Get to it Lindsey!” That’s where I’m at right now and it’s about time I start flying thru them and then post about them. The posting is where I tend to have trouble. LOL! Awesome way to book blog if you just read and then don’t post about it 😉 So, game plan–here are the titles I’ll be reading, not a lofty goal but fairly attainable. I’ll be excited if I get thru half of them:

– ARC Reading List –
*in no specific order*

This Savage Life – Victoria Schwab

The Serpent King – Jeff Zentner

P.S. I Like You – Kasie West

You Know Me Well – Nina LaCour & David Levithan

The Crown’s Game – Evelyn Skye

And I Darken – Kiersten White

🌟if I’m feeling super ambitious🌟

The Long Game – Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Wanderlost – Jen Malone
What Happens Now – Jennifer Castle

Signups are until July 31st here if you’re interested! Meanwhile I’m all

Hopefully by the end of August I might have more of my life together but I literally say this lie almost every month so…cheers! HAPPY READING! I BETTER SEE YOU ALL READING YOUR ARCs!!
