*waves* Soooooo…how has everyone been? I’m once again in a bit of a reading slump, a book here and there, but it’s not regular for some reason so I wanted to share some of the titles I’ve recently read: *edit…I wrote this back in May so, fair warning I’m just posting this late 😦
The Raven King (The Raven Cycle #4)
Well after this novel had been delayed for a while and then my shipping mishap, I think I wanted to enjoy this last book in The Raven Cycle series, to milk what it was worth–which was worth a lot. From the past three novels we finally got some closure for our friends who live in Henrietta along with a little heartbreak as well as some self-discovery. Certain ships set sail…yes I think you know which ones I speak of, so much so I could pinch myself and well worth the wait. [I basically spelled that out for you so don’t nit-pick my literal misspell so throw me a bone here] I was really happy with the way the series ended although I think I would’ve liked to see a bit more of an epilogue and a few scenes could’ve used a little more backstory BUT overall I was really happy with the novel as a whole. A few new characters were my favorites and others finally started shining through which was a nice transformation to read for their group.
Now to go find some fanfic about a few of these ships I enjoy so much . . . . . .
The Queen (The Original Sinners: White Years #4)
This book came out back in October of 2015 and once again Tiffany’s story works it’s magic and I find a way to get out of my reading slump and simply devour this novel in a day. WHICH IS AWFUL yet spectacular. I say this is awful because there might still be a handful of novellas I haven’t read yet and another story which is kind of a companion but that’s it. THE SERIES IS DONE. I’ve been on this journey of Original Sinners for EIGHT novels (and numerous novellas)! I have a long, sexy history with these characters and my gut simply ached as I finished it. All my favorites were spectacular and Tiffany always finds a way to give us the drama, heartache, passion, and intrigue placed in a beautifully wrapped up–tightly–gift which we open and are left in a most enjoyable sated state. Nora and her crew are well written and continue to shine. Again I implore anyone who is looking for an erotica series to pick up, Tiffany has you covered! She’s the best in person and online and I hope she continues to keep some ideas in her mind to write more about our favorites some day.
When We Collided
Reading this book had me completely sucked in! The story was really easy to get into–new girl in town meets a quiet boy who’s very townie in a quaint …town. She meets me, flips his world upside down and in the process starts throwing her world upside down as well. While I flew through the book, my issue for this one is that the characters didn’t feel very established–certain ones. Vivi is the new girl in town and comes at you so fast. I definitely could figure out there must’ve been more to her past that she wasn’t sharing with the reader but she comes into other MC, Jonah, like a whirlwind and it just didn’t…the elements didn’t feel believable. I am the first one to admit, that’s usually how YA novels are–there’s a lot of unbelievable things that find their way into happening, but Vivi’s obsessing just never sat well with me even after I consumed the book in less than 24 hours. I did like the character development of Jonah and how there felt like a balance of his storyline but Vivian’s storyline and her character overall I just didn’t fall in love with. So far Emery’s stories go: Open Road Summer, The Start of Me and You, When We Collided.
